Review of the Novel: The Twins A Psychological Thriller

The Twins: A Psychological Thriller

By: RG Miller

Rating: 4 Glasses

This novel was very violent which may put some people off. Me however it did not. It was a very interesting book There were several plot holes in dealing with the police work that may not hit someone who doesn't know as much about police procedures but for me that were very blatant. That is my only real problem with the book. It was thrilling and dark which always makes me happy. If you enjoy thrillers then this one is right for you.

Review of the Novel: Evolve

Evolve

By: Chad Grills

Rating: 4 Glasses

I really enjoyed this novel. I got a strong Divergent feel at the beginning but that was the extent of that. I found the political as well as social themes to be really strong but did not overpower the characters to make this a soap box situation. Finding a book that can not only show a powerful message but also appeal to the audience who needs to hear it would put this book closer to the Hunger Games crowd. All in all a great young adult novel that although slow at times it kept me interested. The young adult crowd will love this new addition to the genre.

Review of the Novel: The French De-Ception

The French DeCeption

By: Jennifer Girardin

Rating: 4 Glasses

My two years a French class really paid off on this book. Which was fine for me but for some who may not have a had a French lesson some of dialog can be difficult since it is in French. It was a great mystery, well written and enjoyable. I got a very Downton Abbey feel while reading this book and I loved that since well I love the show :) I would recommend to anyone who enjoys mystery and grace in a more civilized time.

Review of the Novel: The Stolen Elixirs

The Stolen Elixirs

By: Monique Bird

Rating: 3 1/2 stars

It took me longer than usual to finish this book despite its length. I think it was because I was not as invested as I wish I had been. It is a lovely book and a great story but it just didn't draw me in. I think partly due to it being for younger audiences. Some of the terms used were off putting (a little childish) and that took me out of things as well but that may just be because I am 32 not 15. That is not to put it down it is a sweet book as I said before and the younger crowd who enjoy fanciful stories about magic it would be a perfect fit. I would recommend for the teenage crowd of magic lovers.

Review of the Novel: The Marijuana Project

The Marijuana Project

By: Brian Laslow

Rating: 4 Glasses

The issue of medical Marijuana I don't personally think is a moral dilemma unless you consider the discussion about any medication being put on the market a moral issue. The fact is people take medications with far more dangerous side affects than Marijuana. Any medication can be used for recreational use so that doesn't really faze me in terms of the ethical issue. That being said, this is a well written book and the main character obviously has some major reservations about the legalization of medical Marijuana. However the big decision to walk away over someone using the medicine when they shouldn't have kind of fell flat for me. This character shouldn't work in any medical field since misuse of medicine that costs people their lives is a daily thing. Still if you enjoy books about modern day issues this book will work perfectly for you.

Ana's Post

Yay my day :) I want to talk today about something that has happened lately that has started me on a path I hope other authors will follow.

I work with at risk youth and one day I took a couple of them with me to pick up some video game supplies from a local media store and while there I expected the two boys to ask me to buy them candy or a toy of some kind...they didn't. Both asked if I would buy them a book. It blew my mind I never expected that and yet I was thrilled to hear it. I have made it my mission since to get these boys more access to books.

I reached out to other authors through Goodreads and the response has been amazing. So many have been so giving when it came to adding to the library of books for the boys to have access to. If you are an author and would like for me to add your young adult novel to the collection I am building please let me know. I have a kindle the boys can read on but they have to share it.... we all know how sharing goes with teenagers (lol) so paperback books are most preferred but I would love ebooks as well if a paperback is not an option.

I will update all of you as to the success of this project of mine along with a list of the amazing books and authors who have helped me out :)

Review of the Novel: To Swim Beneath the Earth

To Swim Beneath the Earth

By: Ginger Bensman

Rating: 5 Glasses

Enchanted is the first word I can think of to describe how I felt reading this book. Bringing together two very different periods of history so masterfully and with such a powerful draw is rare in the world of literature. I finished the book in only a couple a days and that is no small feat for a book of this length. It is filled with drama but not a big action filled book which made it even more impressive that it could draw me in like this. I would recommend for anyone who enjoys drama and mystery.

Review of the book: The Bigfoot Paradox

The Bigfoot Paradox

By: Rebecca Coyte

Rating: 5 Glasses

Thank you thank you thank you Rebecca for a very original story idea. I get so many young adult books and sooo many follow the same story line and have the same standard young adult characters. Not Rebecca ! Lets bring Bigfoot into the mix! (He is so out there, it is just a matter of time before he is found) It is a sweet and entertaining story that is perfect for the younger audience, but I enjoyed it too! I look forward to many more books by Rebecca. Perfect for anyone who loves a good story but really designed to engage younger audiences.

Review of the Novel: Portraits of Pain

Portraits of Pain

By: MW Sims

Rating: 5 Glasses

As a big fan of the show White Collar I was thrilled to get an art mystery. This book however was not as tame. Filled with intrigue and mystery I found myself shocked and excited as I turned the pages. The author paints vivid and imaginative images as we try to uncover the mystery. I was a bit scared of finding the painting but I will never tell if he does... I can't spoil the book it is just not in my nature. I would recommend for my thriller, horror fans.

Wattpad Wednesday: Light and Shadows

About the Book:
Ever since she was a child, Nora King has been able to see the shadows of the dead.

When she is attacked by her best friend Jason, she discovers that the shadows she thought were mere figments of her imagination are frighteningly real - and they hunger for the living.

She is rescued by Liam Hayes, the new guy in town who has secrets of his own - he is a vampire.

Together they have to face a terrible evil, someone from Nora's past wants to see her dead at all costs.

About the Author:
Raven Blackburn was born in South Africa. After spending her childhood with her loving grandparents she moved to Germany at the age of eleven to live with her mother, stepfather and little sis. She suspects moving halfway around the world at that exact age caused her letter to Hogwarts to go missing, something she deeply regrets.
Ever since her childhood she would spend each day creating stories in her head and frantically writing them down lest she forget them all. Most of her stories feature vampires, so be advised to close your windows at night while reading.

Review of the Novel: Natalie's Getting Married

Natalie's Getting Married

By: Rosa Temple

Rating: 5 Glasses

Super cute, it really gave me feelings back to watching "Runaway Bride" and that caused me a lot of joy. A very lighthearted book that takes you through Natalie's life as she quests to find the true one. It was a easy read that kept my interest despite these books normally not being my cup of tea. If you love a light hearted romance that doesn't go into the erotica world, this book will be perfect for you.

Review of the Novel: Poaching the Immortal

Poaching the Immortal

By: Mercedes Fox

Rating: 4 Glasses

Oh My!!! This novel does not shy away from the gore and I mean seriously gory stuff. I am not a big werewolf fan....thank you Twilight but that being said it was a good take on the werewolf legend and provided a great amount of entertainment, bloody entertainment. It is a short book falling in at under 200 pages and that was just about right for a quick read. It is a guilty pleasure novel that werewolf fans who love the gorier side of things will eat up....hopefully not literally :)

Review of the Novel: The Crimson Claymore

The Crimson Claymore

By: Craig A Price Jr

Rating: 4 Glasses

Fantasy is not my normal go to genre and many times their length turns me off. However this one was just the right length for the story. The author does a great job of world building and giving us creative characters to fill the world up with. Although the right length for the storyline at times it did feel a bit drawn out which is the only reason it didn't get the five stars. I enjoyed this novel and would recommend it to my fantasy fans out there.

Review of the book: Twin Reflections

Twin Reflections

By: Elizabeth Joseph

Rating: 4 Glasses

I was very impressed when I found out the age of the author however I am really glad I didn't know that before I read as knowing it was done by such a young writer would naturally make me more easy to impress as I am such a big supporter of kids reaching their dreams. That being said this is a sweet novel of magic in a maze and following their growth through the book. However the change in perspective frequently made things difficult to follow. I think this author has a lot of potential and should defiantly continue to write and grow. I look forward to reading more from her in the future.

Review of the Book: A Smattering of Darkness

A Smattering of Darkness

By: Alisha "Priti" Kirpalani

Rating: 4 Glasses

Short and dark is the best way to sum this book of short stories up. I cannot fault it for being dark in nature as that is basis of this book however it can be a bit dark for some tastes so beware. I enjoyed the majority of the stories but the very short couple liners near the end were not as much to my taste, I prefer a bit more substance. That being said if you enjoy short dark stories this book is right up your alley.

Ana's Post

Today is my day and for once I don't have a ton to say...shocker I know. I have been working with my favorite artist to create the cover for Jasmine and I have been having a blast. I am working my way on being done with my third book and should have everything ready to be released by June 2016. That would give me three books published in one year :) I feel a lot of pride about that and look forward to writing many more :)

Review of the Novel: The Compounders: Book One

The Compounders: Book One

By: Julie Trettel

Rating: 3 1/2 Glasses

I tend to avoid half glasses but this one put me in a middle ground. I like the premise as I am big Hunger Games fan and it is very much in that genre type. However that is also one of the things I wasn't as big of a fan of. It was very predictable in terms of the type of storyline. The love triangle that is so standard in terms of young adult books. Letting that slide though it was a really enjoyable book. I liked it and it would be a great fit for the teenage age group. So if you enjoyed Hunger Games and want another books to falls into that type of book then this book is perfect for you.

Review of the Novel: The Pirate's Challenge

The Pirate's Challenge

By: Simon Brading

Rating: 4 Glasses

A boy gets transported through time to become the captain of a pirate ship. A cute set up to a very young adult novel. This book is perfect for the younger groups, I would say 8-14 year olds. It is a pretty short book and I know this is a set up for the series but left me wanting. I think it holds to be a great young adult series but this one has very little in it that builds the long term story. That being said this book is a fun and easy read that would be great for the younger reader.

Review of the book: Health Benefit of Soursop

Health Benefit of Soursop
By: Laucy Kenneth

Rating: 3 Glasses

A very informative short book. I was unaware that the Soursop even existed. I am a big supporter of research to find a solution for Cancer and I think exploring alternative medicines is a great path to take. Looking into using the natural gifts the earth gives us to treat disease is a direction I am in full support of. I do hope however that people consult with their doctor about using any alternative medicine to make sure it would not possibly negatively affect the treatment they are receiving. That  being said there were a lot of grammar issues in a very short book and a couple typos on the cover. When discussing health and treatment of cancer if you want someone to take the information seriously making sure it looks professional is very important. At the same time the information is good and I hope this treatment is further researched.

Wattpad Wednesday: Tales of Cubonia

It's Wattpad Wednesday and Today's Story is:

Tales of Cubonia is a fantasy serial set on the cube planet of Cubonia, a six-sided world world where each face has its own personality. The Golden Hourglass is the first tale of the serial that focuses on a treasure hunter (maybe thief) named Broderick Porter and his gryffon sidekick, Adhemar. Broderick is hired to steal a valuable possession from Queen Annelise's youngest daughter, Alexandra. But the job is much more than it seems, and when Broderick and Adhemar find themselves tangled up with the witch that controls the Wastelands of Time, they'll need some help from some very unexpect sources.

Cubonia is a world full of monsters, knights, royalty, witches, treasure hunters, and enough humor to keep it all rolled together!

About the Author:

I've been writing since I was a kid because I've always had ideas rolling around my head and it just made sense to write them all down. Or at least the ones that were good. The idea for Tales of Cubonia came to me a long time ago when I was extremely bored and asked a friend to give me some random words in which I could base a story on. I wrote her a short story that would eventually become the story of Broderick and Adhemar.

All I really want from my writing is for people to read and enjoy it. Being some big famous writer that the whole world knows has never been my endgame. As long as someone can read the words I wrote and find entertainment in them, that's what makes me happy.

What can readers expect from the Author:
The main thing anyone can expect from my work is humor. There are plenty of books and stories out there that take themselves so seriously. There are not nearly enough books that make you laugh, however. At least, not in certain genres. Fantasy is one place that is overloaded with overly serious stories. There are some humorous ones out there, but they're few and far between. With Tales of Cubonia, readers will get the things they know and love from the fantasy genre, but with a humorous spin.

Review of the Novel: Sapphire Hunting

Sapphire Hunting

By: J SenGupta

Rating: 3 Glasses

A unique and creatively written novel. Not your run of the mill young adult book. The book has as poetic feel verses a more action packed story. The descriptions are long and elegant and at times can be difficult for the reader to get into. However I stuck it out and I really enjoyed it. Once you get into the style it can be great fit for the those who enjoy poetic verse in novel format. It would be a better fit for the more seasoned reader and that is why is struggles in my mind as a young adult book as many of the younger generations may not have the mature reading style to enjoy this book. Check it out if you like the young adult for the older adult.
