Review of the Novel: Catherine Dickens: Outside the Magic Circle
Catherine Dickens: Outside the Magic Circle
By: Heera Datta
Rating: 4 Glasses
Giving a voice to a little known and understood woman in history is a favorite of mine. We got her husband's side of the story but not hers. This book gives her that voice. She suffered emotional abuse at the hands of her husband but just sucked it up for her children. She had grace in her abuse and didn't speak out. This was common of woman in her time period to suffer in silence. However her story is not uncommon and I had hoped she would have found real happiness which it appeared she never did. This book can be difficult read as there really isn't a light at the end of the tunnel. I would recommend this book for historical buffs.
